The Three Degrees: The Men Who Changed British Football with author Paul Rees

FURD is hosting a great opportunity on 25th October to hear about the experiences of three legendary black footballers from the 1970s and 1980s.

As part of Sheffield's Off the Shelf festival of words, Paul Rees talks about his new book documenting the impact three black footballers had on 1970s Britain, playing in the top division of English football for West Bromwich Albion.

Laurie Cunningham, Cyrille Regis and Brendon Batson constantly faced horrific racist abuse from players, fans, referees and fascists.

But they silenced prejudice with sublime skills and helped build the fight back against racism that shaped a generation.

The event is free and takes place on Sunday 25th October 2015 from 4pm-5pm at the U-Mix Centre, Asline Road, Sheffield S2 4UJ. No booking required - just come along.
