Thank you Sonia!

We are very sorry that our admin worker of 11 years, Sonia Howard, has been made redundant as a result of our current funding difficulties. 2 members of the U-Mix Centre team, Ahmed Mohammed and Abid Rahim, have, sadly, also become victims of our need to reduce costs and left in September.

Sonia first joined FURD as admin worker for our Millennium Volunteers programme, and has since gone on to help hundreds of young people through our MV and V volunteering schemes, as well as supporting the whole FURD team. She has also been the first point of contact with FURD for many people contacting us by phone, email or visiting us.

Known to many as `Auntie Sonia`, she has also contributed a huge amount beyond her or anyone`s job description, including remembering birthdays, knitting for babies (and adults), and baking her legendary lemon drizzle cakes!

In true FURD fashion, however, she is not leaving completely. She will be working ten hours a week for us on a `casual` basis for a little while yet, probably till March. Sonia said, `I have had 11 great years with FURD and I wouldn`t have changed a thing, because it`s given me my FURD family`.

One more member of the FURD team is facing redundancy at the end of November if funding is not secured before then.
