Sponsored 'Crab Walk' in memory of Tom Collins

25 Jan 2010 / News

Cricketing friends of Tom Collins, FURD's former treasurer and youth worker who died last June, have organised a sponsored walk for Saturday 10th April in his memory. The walk, known as The Crab Walk (inspired by Tom's batting style, which earned him the nickname of The Crab!) will raise funds for St Luke's Hospice. The Crab Walk will link some of the cricket clubs that Tom played for, starting from Millhouses in Sheffield, walking out to Hathersage in the Peak District, then back to Beauchief cricket pavilion. The whole walk is about 18 miles, but there are trains and buses linking Sheffield and Hathersage for anyone who wants to do part of the walk. Several of FURD's staff, volunteers and trustees will be taking part, so please contact us for more details, if you'd like to take part or to sponsor us. Thank you.
