FURD volunteer Sophina Hanif stepped into the limelight with an unscheduled playing appearance at Bramall Lane on Saturday 3rd November.

Sophina, who plays for Sheffield Wednesday Ladies, came to the rescue when one of the FURD Academy group had to withdraw at the last minute from the half-time coaching session, as part of Sheffield United's 'One Game, One Community' day at the game against Burnley. Sophina, who had arranged to help run the session with FURD coach Desbon Bushiri, jumped at the chance to play, and impressed everyone with her close control and passing ability.

30 volunteers from FURD distributed 3,000 posters, 1000 Kick It Out magazines and hundreds of Kick It Out and Football Unites stickers at the event.
