Sheffield Hallam University students raise money for FURD

FURD wishes to thank the Sheffield Hallam University students who organised a fantastic fundraising day for us on Saturday 28th February.

The students from Unity Events Consultancy held a 5-a-side tournament and fun day at the U-Mix Centre including Streetkick, a barbecue, raffle and homemade cake stall.

The rain held off and the mood was buoyant, the food smelt so good which contributed to a memorable day. The event organisers Unity were particularly pleased with how smoothly the event ran which saw teams battling it out for the hugely prestigious winner`s trophy.

Congratulations to the winning team, the Balotellitubbies, who beat the Scorpions in the final, and to all the teams for taking part and helping to raise funds and awareness of our work.

The event raised over £400 for FURD. The money raised will go towards continued subsidising of football sessions put on by FURD around Sheffield, which is of great help to the community, enabling us to help people who are most in need. In addition to raising funds, which was the primary objective, it was a great chance to showcase the brilliant facilities at the U-Mix Centre.

A special mention is required for Sheffield Trophy Centre who provided a fantastic deal for all medals and trophies.

A thank you, on behalf of Unity Events, to everyone that donated for the day, such as Sheffield United FC, Toni & Guy as well as the bakers and cooks who prepared such delicious cakes and food for everyone to indulge in.

And finally a big thanks to UPL who were the main sponsors of the tournament and who gave a tremendous amount of money which massively helped proceedings.

It`s not too late to donate to their appeal - please follow the link below to the Just Giving page.
