Sharrow United, now in their fifth season, have recovered from an unsteady start in their new league. Having been accepted into the top league in South Yorkshire, the Meadowhall Sheffield and District Sunday League, Sharrow soon found that high standards of organisation and concentration would need to be maintained in every match.
Defensive sloppiness, combined with the early season absence of key players saw Sharrow lose three out of their first four matches. However the sole win was a 6-0 away victory at Royal Oak, offering hope for better things.
Sure enough Sharrow went on to take 7 points from their next three games, including a win and a draw against the league leaders, Hollybush, to move into third place after seven games played.
Sharrow faced a tough draw in the first round of the Sunday Senior Cup, drawing Imperial League premier champs Vulcan. After a hard-fought 1-1 draw (after extra time), Sharrow moved into the next round, holding their nerve to win the penalty shoot-out 2-1.
