Sharrow and Porter in last eight of cups

Sharrow United moved into the quarter-finals of the Meadowhall Sunday Cup with a brave 3-0 third round triumph over rivals Springwood.

A penalty from Keith Ward. following a great run by Ifty Akhtar, gave Sharrow a narrow lead at the break. After coming under desperate pressure by their opponents in the second half, Akhtar and Abdulrehman Ahmed each capped mazy dribbles with clinical finishes to clinch a deseved win.

Meanwhile, Porter United were the only Division One side to progress to the next round of the Hallamshire Nomads league cup, after defeating Birley Moor News by 6-2 with goals from Mohammed Mah, Abdi Hussein, Ibrahim Mohamed, Abdulla Ahmed and Fuad Sheikh.
