New volunteer scheme for young people at FURD

03 Jun 2014 / News

FURD is now working with 10 young people who are volunteers on the vInspired Talent programme. This programme aims to engage vulnerable and disengaged young people aged 16 to 25 with their communities through social action projects and mentoring and support. The programme lasts for 24 weeks with volunteers contributing 24 hours a week.

Our volunteers are mostly from the Sharrow, Nether Edge and Broomhall areas of Sheffield and include two asylum-seekers. They will have the opportunity to gain experience in youth work, football coaching, reception duties, marketing and promotion and planning and running events, and to gain a Level 2 qualification.

After this 24 week period we will be recruiting another 10 volunteers to take part in the scheme.
