Hat-trick of FURD referrals now playing top flight football

07 Mar 2012 / News

Former Sheffield United player, Aymen Tahar, has signed for Romanian first division club Gaz Metan. Tahar was recommended to Sheffield United by FURD coaches after attending our coaching sessions at the Sheffield United Academy. He made his debut for Gaz Metan against Dynamo Bucharest on 3rd March 2012.

Tahar played alongside two other FURD referrals, Kyle Walker and Liban Abdi, in Sheffield United's youth team of 2006-7. Walker is now an established Premiership star with Tottenham and an England international, while Abdi is playing for Ferencvaros in the Hungarian top flight and the Europa League, and has recently signed a new contract. Tahar said in a recent interview that Walker helped him get back into the professional game after being released by Sheffield United by recommending him to an agent.
