Our Women and Girls’ Football Worker Ruth Johnson is currently being featured in an exhibition in the National Football Museum in Manchester.
Photographer Alison Palmer's exhibition, ‘Our Time Is Now’, is an honest and raw documentation of grassroots football in England during the spring of 2023, exploring the positive effect of the Women’s Euro 2022 on generations of women, and themes of empowerment at the heart of our communities.
Ruth was nominated by Sara Harnett, Women’s Recreational Football Officer at Sheffield & Hallamshire County Football Association, who said,
“What Ruth has achieved with very limited resources over the last ten years is phenomenal, and she deserves as much recognition as possible”.
The exhibition is on now until 30th September 2023.
Also featured in the exhibition from our area is Gail Fletcher, founder of Sheffield’s Silver Strikers football club for women over 30, who we have also played with and against.
