3 teams made up of FURD MV volunteers, staff and local young people have just returned from the 6th Mondiali Antirazzisti (Anti-Racist World Cup) in Italy. Our teams - the Sheffield Bangladeshi Blades, FURD Dreamteam and FURD Women Allstars - were all knocked out in the group stages. However, everyone had a great time, and the girls, despite losing most of their games - which were all against men! - brought home what is described by the tournament organisers as the most prestigious trophy of the competition, the Coppa Multiculti, awarded for fair play and for being the most multicultural team at the event, thereby upholding the spirit of the event. It was the first time we´ve entered a women´s team in the tournament, which is mixed. 120 teams took part. The event has become an annual 7-a-side friendly tournament open to any teams or groups with a commitment to anti-racism, and includes a free campsite and music festival.
