FURD
FURD is the subject of a one-minute promotional film to be shown on the Community Channel on Monday 11th June. Along with 24 other organisations, FURD was selected to tell its story in the Untold Stories scheme, for which the Media Trust, partnered with Sainsbury's, matched small charities with professional film-makers who volunteered their time to highlight the charities' impact. Filming took place over a cold Friday and Saturday in January at various locations around Sheffield with input from FURD staff and volunteers, working with Eelyn Lee Productions.
The resulting film will be broadcast at 6.30pm in episode five of the third series of Untold Stories, presented by Jon Snow. It will be available to watch online afer Monday. Until then, a trailer, including a glimpse of FURD's film, can be seen at the Community Channel link below.
Eelyn said, "I have been genuinely impressed by the passion of the young people in their belief that they can really make a difference through FURD as well as their desire to spread their message globally so that other people can follow suit. I have also ben intrigued by their modesty, this great work that is truly making a difference is played out with a degree of quiet, effortless graft - the Yorkshire way".
South Yorkshire poet and football fan Ian Macmillan, a supporter of FURD, has written a poem especially for the film.
The Community Channel is broadcast on Virgin 233 and 24/7 on Sky 539. It is also available on BT Vision and Sky Anytime's On Demand service.
