On Thursday 16th August we are holding an event around lunchtime at Bramall Lane, home of Sheffield United FC, to celebrate the publication of our annual report for 2000-2001, and the publication of an independent evaluation of our work carried out by the Sir Norman Chester Centre for Football Research at the University of Leicester.
The annual report is the first one we have produced since early 1998 so contains lots of information about the progress of FURD since then, illustrated with photos and case studies of people the project has worked with. The event will include free lunch!, Ralph Hancock reading FURD-inspired poetry, a demonstration of Streetkick featuring Anti-Racist World Cup finalists the Somali Blades, music from DJ LS and the presentation of MV Certificates and Awards of Excellence to our Millennium Volunteers.
Invitations have gone out to, among others, footballers, community groups, anti-racist organisations, youth workers, teachers, learning mentors and the media. If you have not received an invitation but would like to come, email us for an invitation. If you would like us to send you a copy of our annual report, email us.
