FURD
FURD are very sad to learn of the death of Roy Darby after a long illness.
Roy was a stalwart in local football circles, having most recently been a member of the Meadowhall Sunday League management committee
Roy was previously a leading light in the Sheffield Regional Alliance League, which Sharrow United joined in 2000. Roy was a great supporter of Sharrow, especially in the difficult early matches, when racist abuse and harassment was commonplace, and came to cheer us on many a Sunday morning

All at Sharrow United owe Roy a huge debt of gratitude. He has always been a good friend of us all, has supported and defended us in whatever way possible in the times we've struggled and faced problems.
Roy has always been there for us, he has helped me personally in the early days when I was learning (often the hard way!) the ropes of being a club secretary. and our thoughts go out to his family and close friends.
Of course the wider family of grass roots football has indeed also suffered a great loss.
