Free film show for Black History Month

Friday 11th October between 6.30pm and 9pm at the U-Mix Centre, Sheffield:

Free film screening at 7pm: The Letter: An American Town and "The Somali Invasion" (76 minutes, directed by Ziad H. Hanzeh)

'A firestorm of controversy erupts when the Mayor sends an open letter to the 1100 newly-arrived Somali refugees asking them to inform other Somalis not to move to the city, a move interpreted as racist by some and a rallying cry by white supremacist groups'.

The film will be followed by a discussion of some of the issues raised and Somali experiences of settling in Sheffield, and refreshments will be available.
