FIFA unite with campaigners from Football Unites

Officials from FIFA, world football's governing body, came together with campaigners from Football Unites to play a game of Streetkick in Cologne ahead of England's clash with Sweden on 20th June to promote a message against racism at the World Cup.  FIFA staff visited our mobile football game, Streetkick, in the heart of Cologne to highlight their support for the 'Football Unites!' project being run as part of FARE's (Football Against Racism in Europe) anti-racist World Cup activities.

FIFA officials took part in a Streetkick game, symbolically illustrating the partnership between the organisations. FARE's 'Football Unites!' World Cup project has been funded by the German World Cup Organising Committee and involves campaigners underlining positive messages of diversity, working with football fans and ethnic minority communities and monitoring potential problems.  FARE is a European network of anti-racist football campaigns, of which Football Unites is a founding member.

The picture shows Football Unites resources and information worker Ruth Johnson tracking back. The FIFA team beat a Football Unites squad 4-3 in a close encounter, but in a rematch before the France v Togo match on 23rd June Football Unites were the victors.
