Enough in enough - Social media boycott

We at FURD are happy to stand alongside English football in boycotting all social media platforms this coming weekend; in response to the levels of (online) racism and other forms of discriminatory abuse, and social media companies’ general lack of action. We also welcome the news that English rugby and English cricket have joined football’s anti-abuse move and call on all social media users to join the boycott.

FURD will not post any content to its social media channels for the duration of the boycott period - from 3pm on Friday 30th April until 11.59pm on Monday 3rd May.

FURD stands with every user experiencing racial hate and online abuse. We stand with sporting personalities to urge social media companies to do more to eradicate online hate and ensure social media is a safe place for everyone. Our hope is that social media be a platform that unites, rather divides people based on colour, race, gender and difference.

We believe we should live in a world with equality, where people are not discriminated against for the place they were born or the colour of their skin. We will continue to use the power of football, education and all our public platforms to build stronger communities that are united against racism.
