Construction work begins at Lowfield

The dream of the U-Mix Centre, a purpose-built centre to base the FURD project’s work has taken a giant step towards reality with the construction of the works site compound by contractors William Birch.

Under the holistic plans for the space, the adjacent Lowfields School is to be refurbished, together with the building of a new dining hall which will also be available for community use. Birch has been able to site the compound between the school dining hall and the site of the U-Mix Centre, so making a big saving thanks to shared usage.

FURD expects to report a projected opening date in the near future, and the website will carry regular progress updates.
