FURD
Three of FURD's Talent Match clients picked up awards at the Sheffield City Region Talent Match winter celebration event at Sheffield Hallam University on 15th December.
The event showcased the hard work and achievements of participants on the Talent Match programme, which provides individually tailored support to NEET (Not in Education, Employment or Training) young people to improve their chances of moving into employment or starting their own business.
FURD is one of several providers running Talent Match schemes across the region. FURD's award winners were:
Sobia Walton, who has secured an apprenticeship in animal care at Whirlow Farm;
Kaya Hanstock, who is now working as a waitress at the Genting Club; and
Waqas Ahmed who set up an enterprise project running the School Dinners lunch club at the U-Mix Centre, and has now moved into employment.
Also nominated for awards were Amadu Bangura and Jibril Mohamed who are both now employed on Workfund placements with FURD at the U-Mix Centre.
The celebration event was attended by some of our clients and our Talent Match coaches Sajaad Rauf and Saudat Adinani, who said, "It was a good opportunity to see our clients rewarded for all their hard work".
The Talent Match programme has so far supported over 1100 young people, helping 150 into jobs, 200 into education, 40 into apprenticeships, 80 into volunteering and 100 into placements.
