The four FURD-backed Sunday League teams have got off to a generally satisfactory start to their respective campaigns, with the African Dream Team leading the way with two wins from two games, scoring 12 goals in the process.

The new FURD Positive Futures team, Porter FC, opened with a 4-4 draw against Ecclesfield Fighting Cocks, but then won the return match 6-2.

Sharrow Athletic lost their opening fixture 2-0, but bounced back with a 6-1 win over Beighton Falcons.

Meanwhile Sharrow United continue to find life tough in the Meadowhall League, going down to a couple of 3-1 away defeats. However a 7-2 home win over Sportsman Stannington, including four goals from Keith Ward, has given cause for optimism that things will improve as the season progresses.
