Activities for asylum-seekers and refugees

FURD is currently offering the following activities at the U-Mix Centre, which are free for refugees and asylum-seekers as part of our research project, ’Football: A Shared Sense of Belonging?’ Alongside the activities will be optional opportunities to take part in the research and voluntary work.


Women-only dance sessions, 10.30am-12.00 each Wednesday in March initially, with an experienced teacher– see flyer for more details.


Gym sessions (mixed): Wednesdays and Fridays, 10am-11am, with a multilingual qualified instructor. See flyer for more details.


Football sessions as part of an Asylum-Seekers and Refugees Club on Wednesdays between 11am-1.00pm.

Participants formed a friendly team which won a mini tournament at the U-Mix Centre on 21st February, playing against teams from the Minds Over Football project run by St Wilfred’s Centre in partnership with FURD.
