A poem created by people in Sharrow has appeared on the side of a new block of student flats. The flats are at the junction of London Road and Boston Street and the poem can best be seen by walking up the right hand side of London Road out of town just past the Tin Tin Chinese restaurant.
The poem was born at Sharrow Festival back in 2004 when FURD`s poet-in-residence at the time, Ralph Hancock, invited festival-goers to contribute lines to a poem celebrating the day and the area. It has since resided on our website where it was spotted by people from Axis Architecture, who said,
`We think this would be a great opportunity for connecting the building with the community and celebrating the multicultural nature of the Sharrow neighbourhood.`
The poem on the flats is an edited version of the original. The whole thing, along with a message from Ralph Hancock, can be seen on our website at the link below.
