FURD-backed African Dream Team and Albanian Fire excelled themselves at the second Unity Cup Festival for refugees held in Manchester over the weekend of 17-18 July 2004.
African Dream Team won the ´Group of Death´ on the first day, finishing on top of both last year´s finalists, La Camar (Newcastle) and A1 (Leicester), to qualify for the Unity Cup proper.
On the second day ADT again finished as group winners to qualify for the semi-finals, where they met London side Your Story. In a tight encounter, ADT eventually went down 1-0 to a penalty goal, with Your Story going on to win the final in a penalty shoot-out.
Alabanian Fire almost repeated the feat of Red United last year, when they reached the final of the consolation Unity Shield. In a closely contested contest they went down 4-1 to winners A!.
The event was again a great success, with 19 teams and over 250 players and supporters attending, and the winning teams receiving their medals from PFA chairman Gordon Taylor.
