Sharrow United have clinched promotion to the Premier Division, the top rung of the Meadowhall Sheffield & District Sunday League, with a 5-4 victory away to Ridgeway Athletic. Sharrow were 4-1 up at half-time, thanks to a goal from Bjorn Taylor, an own goal and two from Manny Heywood.
However a sloppy second-half performance saw Ridgeway claw back into the game, and with minutes to go made it 4-4. With the referee having indicated that there were only seconds left, Taylor sealed victory after some determined running from substitute Jarvis Salmon kept the ball in play.
Sharrow have two games left this season, on Thursday 6th May v league winners Arundel and Sunday 10th May against Brunsmeer Athletic.
The promotion is a fitting end to Sharrow's tenth season, giving them all the more reason to celebrate how far they've come at their tenth anniversary party on 11th June, to be held at Sheffield United FC.
