Sharrow run riot in stirring fightback

Sharrow United continued their impressive league form with a 6-4 away win at second-placed Vine FC. In a seesaw first half which saw the lead change hands three times, Sharrow found themselves 3-2 behind at the break, both goals coming from Tariq Akhtar. Despite an equaliser from Abdul Rehman, Sharrow found themselves behind 4-3 with twenty minutes left to play, and severely handicapped by a back injury to goalie Naveed Ahmed.

Suddenly the side found the confidence to pass the ball with more confidence, instead of hoofing the ball upfield. Once Akhtar completed his hat-trick to level, it was one-way traffic as Sharrow tore the opposition apart with some brilliant one-touch play. A Manny Heywood tap-in grabbed the lead with ten minutes to go, before a second from Rehman sealed the win which moved Sharrow back into the top half of the table.
