One Game, Sheffield is a free grassroots and community football event being held on Wednesday 27th October, 6-9pm, at Sheffield Wednesday Football Club, Hillsborough, and there are still some places available. It's being held jointly by Kick It Out, Football Unites, Racism Divides, Sheffield & Hallamshire County FA and Sheffield Wednesday Community Trust.
This community event is looking at issues related to grassroots football and diverse communities in Sheffield and South Yorkshire. Our aim is to bring together amateur clubs and community groups to discuss issues faced by them such as the disciplinary process, coaching, refereeing, club development, funding and increasing participation for young people, especially from under-represented groups and women and girls.
This event will also have a theme around disability football, where we will talk about the number of disabled players already participating in mainstream leagues and the growth of disabled football itself and the issues surrounding it.
The event will include:
- A Panel discussion with key decision makers within the game including ex-England and Sheffield Wednesday player Earl Barrett and Sheffield County FA.
- Presentations from groups on encouraging involvement and helping to address local needs through sports
- Recognition awards for local projects
- Help and advice with funding, volunteers and running football activities
- Free refreshments and soft drinks
It will take place in the 1867 Lounge, Sheffield Wednesday FC, Hillsborough Stadium, Sheffield S6 1SW on Wednesday 27th October between 6pm - 9pm.
