Season’s greetings and best wishes for a happy, peaceful and racism-free New Year to all our supporters. Read about recent racist incidents on the news pages of www.kickitout.org and www.farenet.org if you need a reminder of why campaigns like ours exist.

On 10th January, FURD is teaming up with Sheffield Wednesday and the Show Racism the Red Card campaign to invite youngsters from local schools to Hillsborough for a launch of the new version of the Show Racism the Red Card video and magazine. These will soon be available, among hundreds of other resources, to borrow from the FURD library, or to buy from Show Racism the Red Card.

Then on 16th January there’s a celebration event in the planning for our Millennium Volunteers, possible including a fashion show put on by FURD MVs. Details to be confirmed.

The MV scheme recently received a boost with the award of an MBE to MV ambassador Trevor Nelson, who has visited FURD’s MV scheme to support MVs running DJ workshops.

FURD-backed local team Sharrow United are doing well, currently in 5th place in the Regional Alliance Sunday League Premier Division, with 3 games in hand over the leaders, and are through to the quarter-finals of the League Cup.
