Two volunteers associated with FURD-backed football teams have been awarded Kick It Out Community Awards at the One Game, One Community event at Sheffield Wednesday FC on 27th October.

Kevin Titterton, who has been a virtual ever-present with FURD's Sharrow United team since its inception in June 2000, was recognised for his irreplacable role as secretary, physio and kitman of the multi-ethnic team, who have risen from the bottom division of the Sheffield Regional Alliance League to the Premier Division of the Meadowhall Sunday League in ten seasons, winning two cups along the way.

Murtada Ilkhilesa is one of the main organisers of the newly-formed Iraqi Forever, made up largely of Iraqis who came to Sheffield as part of the Gateway programme. The team are very ambitious, and entered their first competitive tournament at the All Nations event in June this year, being awarded the Fair Play trophy for their sporting behaviour. They are currently working to establish an 11-a-side team that could enter an affiliated league for season 2011-12.
