FURD staff understand that Kyle Walker, the first player to be recommended by FURD coaches to Sheffield United, had been selected for his first team Blades debut at Leyton Orient on Saturday 3rd January. Kyle was spotted by FURD's Luis Silva and Paul Archer - at the tender age of seven years - at our Saturday morning sessions at Abbeydale Grange School in 1999.
Sadly the Third Round FA Cup Tie was called off an hour and a half before kick off because of a frozen pitch. Hopefully Kyle won't have long to wait for his next opportunity after impressing during his recent loan spell at Northampton Town.
