U-Mix Festival unites the community

A big thank you to everyone who braved the rain on Saturday to help make the U-Mix Centre festival such a success. A fantastic team of staff and volunteers were on hand to welcome the community to Lowfield Park and the U-Mix Centre. Lots of entertainment and activities were enjoyed by people of all ages and backgrounds in a display of unity, and many young people were involved in planning and running the event.

Activities included girls` and boys` football, bouncy castles, henna painting, rodeo and gladiator games, and entertainment included DJ Chillout, Affinity breakdance crew, Indian dancing and Desi Drums.

Medals were presented to winners of the football tournaments by Mukhtar Mohammed, who worked for FURD for 6 months on a Future Jobs Fund placement before becoming a full-time athlete and European 800m bronze medalist, and Sheffield based Olympic diver Nick Robinson-Baker.
